Become an AIDS Walk Portland 2008 Celebrity
The Walk of Fame is a group of walkers who raise $1,000 or more. We at Cascade AIDS Project know that our top fundraisers are celebrities, and this is our chance to thank you! Joining the Walk of Fame is easy; just fill out this online registration form, and don't forget to select "Walk of Fame" under "Registration Type." Or, you can print out and mail us a registration form. Just be sure we receive your registration by Friday, October 10th at 5:00 PM. Then, start fundraising! As an AIDS Walk Portland Celebrity, a special section at Registration is dedicated to members of the Walk of Fame, so you can receive the royal treatment you deserve!
Note: If you are under 18 years of age, you only need to raise $500 to join the Walk of Fame! Be sure to register for the "Youth Walk of Fame" when you sign up online, or check the box that indicates you are under 18 on the registration form.
Fundraising Tips
Use Your Talents
Are you creative? An incredible cook? Have a great ear for music? Use your talents to bake yummy treats, create one-of-a-kind greeting cards, or burn a perfect party CD. Ask your friends to make a donation to AIDS Walk Portland in exchange for your original merchandise.Theme Party
Host a summer barbecue, movie marathon, talent show, karaoke sing-along or masquerade party! Provide the food and drinks, and ask your guests to make a donation to AIDS Walk Portland at the door.
Empty the Coin Jar
Everyone has a jar of change laying around. Empty yours, and ask your supporters to do the same. You'll be surprised how those nickels and dimes add up! (But please convert your change into bills or a check made payable to Cascade AIDS Project before AIDS Walk Portland!)
You Scratch my Back...
Don't forget to ask your friends who are involved in other fundraising events to support you. Offer to support their efforts, and see if they will make a matching donation to AIDS Walk Portland. What a great way to support each other, and help out two organizations at once!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I would like to register for the Walk of Fame, but I'm worried that I won't be able to raise $1,000. Will CAP charge me the difference if I can't raise $1,000?
A: Absolutely not! Registering for the Walk of Fame means you commit to a goal of raising $1,000; there is no penalty if you do not reach it. However, raising $1,000 and fulfilling your dream of walking the red carpet is a lot easier than you think. See the fundraising tips above or contact the CAP office at (503) 223-WALK for more ideas!
Q: Can teams or corporations participate in the Walk of Fame?
A: No; only individuals who commit to a goal of raising $1,000 can participate. However, individuals who are a part of a team or corporation but raise $1,000 themselves are eligible for the Walk of Fame and other individual prizes.
Q: Do I need to register before the event?
A: Yes! All candidates for the Walk of Fame must register by 5:00 PM on Monday, October 6th in order to walk the red carpet on AIDS Walk day.
Q: When do I need to turn in my donations?
A: To participate in the Walk of Fame, we must receive your $1,000 prior to or on the day of AIDS Walk Portland.
1) Any checks, cash, credit card forms or matching gift forms you would like to turn in before AIDS Walk Portland must be received at the CAP office no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, October 10th. Any donations collected after October 10th should be brought to the Registration Tent on Walk Day.
2) All online donations must be received by 5:00 PM on WEDNESDAY, October 8th to count toward your fundraising total.
PLEASE NOTE: Unpaid pledges, matching gifts for which you do not have a form, and other money not received by October 12th will NOT count toward your total.
