A: Sunday, October 12, 2008

Q: What time does the Walk start?
A: Registration and all the activities in Pioneer Courthouse Square open at 8:30 am. The 5K Walk begins at 10:00 am.

Q: When do I need to turn in my donations?
A: To count toward your fundraising total and any individual or team prizes, ALL DONATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 10:00 AM ON THE DAY OF THE WALK.

1.) If you would like to turn in checks, cash, credit card donation forms or matching gift forms before AIDS Walk, please bring them to the CAP office by 5:00 pm on Monday, October 6th.

2.) All online donations should be received by 5:00 pm on Friday, October 10th. We will be able to accept online donations after Friday. However, they will not be included in your report for prize consideration. After October 10th, you should bring all donations to the Registration Tent at AIDS Walk Portland for prize consideration.

PLEASE NOTE: Pledges, matching gifts for which you do not have a form, and other money not received by October 12th will NOT count toward your fundraising total and any individual or team prizes.

Q: How long is the Walk?
A: AIDS Walk Portland is a 5K (3.1 miles) walk.

Q: What is the Walk Route?
A: The Walk Route will begin at Pioneer Courthouse Square proceed down to the water front espalnade, across the Steel Bridge, back across the Hawthrone Bridge to Pioneer Courthouse Square. Click here to view the map.

Q: Is the Walk route accessible to all?
A: Yes, the route is flat and completely accessible to strollers and wheelchairs.

Q: Where does the money go?
A: All money raised goes to support CAP’s efforts to prevent new HIV infections, care for people affected or infected by HIV/AIDS, educate communities to eliminate stigma and shame, and advocate for immediate action in combating the pandemic. Click here to learn more about Cascade AIDS Project's work in the community.

Q: Can I walk with my dog?
A: Absolutely! Your well-behaved pets are invited to take part in AIDS Walk Portland! We'll provide water bowls in Pioneer Courthouse Square and along the Walk route, dog treats and extra plastic bags to make your dog feel welcome.

Q: How about a stroller?
A: No problem! Face painting, story telling, and other fun hands-on activities will provide children with lasting memories of AIDS Walk Portland. Stop by and enjoy the excitement before and after the Walk.

Q: I'm going to be out of town on October 12th. Is there any way I can still help out?
A: No problem, you can register as a "Sleep Walker!" Click here to register, and select "Join as an Individual" from the menu. Under "Registration Type," select "Sleep Walker," and specify your t-shirt size. Collect donations online or in person, just as you would if you were coming to the Walk. You can mail any checks or cash to the CAP office, or drop them off by Friday, October 10th. Raise at least $100, and we'll mail you your official AIDS Walk Portland ‘08 t-shirt shortly after the event.

Q: I would like to register for the Walk of Fame, but I'm worried that I won't be able to raise $1,000. Will CAP charge me the difference if I can't raise $1,000?
A: Absolutely not! Registering for the Walk of Fame means you commit to a goal of raising $1,000; but there is no penalty if you do not reach it. However, raising $1,000 and fulfilling your dream of walking the red carpet is a lot easier than you think. Click here for fundraising tips and ideas!

Q: Why are the checks and cash I sent in to CAP not showing up on my fundraising page?
A: All donations received online will automatically show up on your website. However, cash and checks we receive at the office sometimes take a little longer to show up. 1) The best way to ensure that donations are credited to you on your fundraising page is to login to your headquarters and click on Enter Offline Donations. Then enter the off-line donations pledged to you. 2) The donations you enter will appear on the front page of your website once they have been received and confirmed by Cascade AIDS Project. PLEASE NOTE: Only donations received by the day of AIDS Walk Portland will be counted toward your fundraising total. Any offline donations you enter MUST be received at the CAP office by Friday, October 10th or brought to AIDS Walk Portland to be included in your fundraising totals.
